We have great respect for the remarkable personality of Kabir for he was a true Indian saint and a great Indian poet. In his thoughts and beliefs he was an Indian out and out. Moreover he had an ennobling mission of uniting Hindu and Muslims, which alas, remains unfulfilled even after a lapse of so many centuries.
मौलाना क़ुतुबुद्दीन काशानी देहली आए तो फ़रमाया कि हमीदुद्दीन के इ’श्क़ की वजह से देहली आया हूँ। एक रोज़ उन्होंने क़ाज़ी हमीदुद्दीन की तमाम तसानीफ़ मँगवा कर पढ़ीं और अपने हमराही उ’लमा से कहा कि यारो !जो कुछ हम ने और तुम ने पढ़ा है, वो सब इन रिसालों में मौजूद है, और जो कुछ नहीं पड़ा है वो इ’ल्म भी इन किताबों में मौज़ूद है।

हिंदुस्तान से अ’रब का तअ’ल्लुक़ एक क़दीम तअ’ल्लुक़ है। मशाएख़ीन-ए-तरीक़त ने अपनी बे-दाग़ ज़िंदगी यहाँ अ’वाम के सामने रखी। यहाँ की बोलियों में उनसे कलाम किया।
अगर मैं आप से पूछूँ कि आपने कोई फ़क़ीर देखा है तो आपका उत्तर होगा क्यों नहीं! बहुत फ़क़ीर देखे हैं। मगर मैं कहूँगा कि नहीं फ़क़ीर आपने मुश्किल से ही कोई देखा होगा। आज कल तो हर फटे हाल बुरे अहवाल को लोग फ़क़ीर कह देते हैं और हर भीक माँगने वाला फ़कीर समझा जाता है। परंतु सच पूछिए तो ये लोग फ़क़ीर नहीं होते।अस्ली फ़क़ीर किसी से कुछ माँगता नहीं। बन पड़ता है तो अपने पल्ले ही से कुछ दे देता है।वो दुनिया से जी नही लगाता। धन-दौलत की परवाह नहीं करता और बस दो कामों में मगन रहता है।
दुनिया तज्रिबा-गाह के बाहर बहुत वसीअ’ है और ये इतनी बड़ी दुनिया भी काएनात की वुस्अ’त के सामने एक छोटी सी लेबोरेटरी और तज्रिबा-गाह से ज़्यादा हैसियत नहीं रखती।
हिन्द का दाता है तू तेरा बड़ा दरबार है
कुछ मिले मुझको भी इस दरबार-ए-गौहर-बार से
