Professor Rekha Pande is a former Professor of History and Women’s Studies in the University of Hyderabad, India. She is the present, Director of SEED, (Society for Empowerment through Environment development). She was the former Head of the Centre for Women’s Studies, and Department of History at the University of Hyderabad, India. She has been the founding member of two Centres for Women’s Studies, one at Maulana Azad National Urdu University and the other at the University of Hyderabad. She was the Chair of the Women’s World Congress in 2014 organized for the first time in India. She has to her credit 20 books and more than 150 articles in National and International Journals, book chapters and proceedings. Her work is in the Inter disciplinary area of History and Women’s Studies. She has been the Editor of, International Feminist Journal of Politics (IFJP), Rout ledge Taylor and Francis group, U.K. She also edited Foreign Policy Analysis, which is published by Blackwell, USA. She has received the Visiting Fellowship, Birkbeck Institute of Humanities, University of London, International Visiting Fellowship in the School of Policy Studies, in the University of Bristol, U.K. Academic Fellow, University of Buffalo, USA and International Visiting Scholar, at Maison De Research, Paris and Visiting Professorship at the University of Artois, Arras, France. She was invited as an Erudite Scholar for gender studies by the Government of Kerala in 2016. She was a also nominated as the Peace ambassador’ for the South Asia region, by the International Women’s Peace Group( IWPG) Korea for the year 2016- 2018. She has been the Project Director of forty-one Projects. She has guided 21 Ph.D. and 43 M.Phil students in both History and Gender Studies. She has widely traveled in India and abroad to deliver Key note addresses and lectures and present papers in National and International Conferences. She has been recently in 2019, invited by the National Commission for women, Government of India, to be its Resource person for Gender sensitization and Gender development Programmes in India.
